Introduction

If you’re a wanna-be entrepreneur or business owner, you don’t have to go it alone. In fact, one of the best ways to learn more about how successful people become that way is to read books about them.

If you don’t like to read, however, you can always go see movies based on real entrepreneurs’ lives. The best part about these types of movies is that they are available in just about every industry that’s out there.

From clothing designers to lawyers and financial planners to restaurant moguls, many of today’s entrepreneurs have lives played out in movies. Some of the best movies on Amazon Prime are included in this list.

Below are just a few of them.

1. The Wolf of Wall Street

Released in late 2013, The Wolf of Wall Street tells the true story of Jordan Belfort. Belfort was a less-than-honest stockbroker in New York City who learns the hard way that fraud and crime do not pay.

His firm, Stratton Oakmont, specializes more in fraud and corruption than they do in trading stocks. It eventually leads to Belfort’s downfall, but before that point, his life is quite successful.

At one point, Belfort illegally makes $22 million in only three hours, and he hides his money in Swiss bank accounts. The movie shows both the good side and the bad side of success – and it’s a lesson you won’t soon forget.

2. Walt Before Mickey

One of the best entrepreneur movies out there, it tells the story of Walt Disney and his start in the business he is now so famous for. It specifically highlights the years 1919 to 1928 and is based on the book by the same name.

It tells of his love of animation that started when he was just 13 years old. It tells about his moving to Los Angeles and about his early struggles as he started and failed at several different businesses.

The movie also shows a little about his personal life, including his marriage to his wife, Lillian, and his financial struggles along the way. If you’re an entrepreneur, this movie can be a real eye-opener and an encouragement at the same time.

3. The Founder

This is the story of Ray Kroc, who founded the famous McDonald’s chain of restaurants. Released in early 2017, it grossed more than $24 million worldwide and stars Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc.

Kroc is a milkshake machine salesman from Illinois when he meets the McDonald brothers, who have a restaurant in San Bernardino, California. He eventually buys the restaurant from the two brothers, and the rest is history.

If you’re looking for movies to watch in Amazon Prime that are fact-based and center around entrepreneurship, this is one of the best. There’s no denying the McDonald’s chain is one of the most successful on the planet, and this movie will tell you how it all got started.

4. Adidas Vs. Puma: The Brother’s Feud

The best business movies sometimes contain controversy, and this one is no different. It tells the story of Rudolf and Adolf Dassler, who lived in Germany and started an athletic shoe business.

For reasons that are unclear to everyone, the brothers had some type of quarrel and split their shoe business into two companies: Adidas and Puma.

Of course, both companies have been hugely successful, but it’s still interesting to know that they were successful in part because of the brothers’ decision to part ways. The brothers remained on non-speaking terms until their deaths.

Rudolf died in 1974, and Adolf in 1978. This is in part a film about how you can be successful despite what is going on in your private life.

Conclusion

If you’re an entrepreneur or simply want to be one day, you have a lot of resources available that can help increase the odds of being successful. Learning what not to do is just as important as learning what to do when you’re trying to start a business.

These movies, in addition to being entertaining, can teach would-be business owners a thing or two about how to make it in the business world. They present the facts in an easy-to-learn fun way and therefore make it easy to take something away from them.

The movies will definitely teach you something about being an entrepreneur.
